Bookd

Bookd is an application designed to encourage reading for fun. With a team of four others, I designed, developed, and prototyped this app to increase the amount of time our target users of middle schoolers (ages 10-12) spend reading outside of assigned classroom reading. We aimed to do this by scaffolding users’ construction of a reading self through the visual representation of an avatar and narrative preferences while also fostering a reader community through dynamic book reviewing and recommending.

At the end of designing, iterating, and prototyping, we were able to pitch the app and accompanying marketing plan to a panel of field experts, including executives from Sesame Workshop, WGBH, and Fablevision Studios.
